The Lytx Driver of the Year Award recognizes the safest drivers within the DriveCam program. This year’s award in the “For-Hire Trucking” category went to Denise Ponds, a TransAm Trucking Independent Contractor. We are excited to have Lytx recognize Denise’s business and her impeccable driving record – no coachable DriveCam events, no accidents, and no late loads throughout the entire year of 2017! Denise takes safety seriously and we are so proud of her achievement!
Positive Family Influence
Family has been a big influence on Denise’s safety record. “My daddy taught me that if you are going to do a job, do the best you can at that job. I strive for perfection and I protect my CSA score because I’m very proud of it.” Denise is also inspiring the next generation of truck drivers. “The grandkids love that Granny drives a truck.” When she visits, they want to hang out in her truck. One grandson, every year on his birthday, asks to go over-the-road with her. “My family is very supportive.”
Mutual Appreciation
Denise started her trucking business in 2014. “I started trucking at the same time as my husband,” she says. “Honestly, I didn’t think I would like it […] but now, I love it. It’s my calling. I love being able to travel and see America. It’s been a great experience.” The feeling is mutual. We asked her Driver Manager, Randall, about working with Denise and her business, and he has this to say: “Denise has been great! She goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to making sure we are safe out on the road. She is always nice and smiling. I enjoy working with her.”
