This collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and various industry stakeholders underscores TransAm’s dedication to sustainability and energy efficiency in the transportation sector.
Sustained Environmental Impact:
TransAm Trucking is proud to continue our efforts with the SmartWay Transport Partnership. This program has led to remarkable results, contributing to savings of 357 million barrels of oil, a staggering $47.6 billion reduction in fuel costs, and a significant decrease in emissions – specifically, 152 million metric tons of CO2, 2.7 million short tons of NOx, and 112,000 short tons of PM. To put this into perspective, these accomplishments are equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 23 million households.
A Decade of Innovative Collaboration:
The SmartWay Transport Partnership, a pioneering initiative established in 2003 through a joint effort between the EPA and Charter Partners representing industry stakeholders, environmental groups, the American Trucking Association, and Business for Social Responsibility, celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2014. This collaborative program empowers its partners to track and reduce emissions and fuel consumption in the goods movement sector. Today, the Partnership boasts nearly 4,000 partners spanning various sectors, including shippers, logistics companies, trucking, rail, barge, and multimodal carriers.
