TransAm Trucking Night Dispatch

Living and Loving the Night Shift

Joshua Doss and the Night Dispatch… sounds like a rock band. When Paul Jackson briefed me on the multiple hats this team has to wear, I was impressed. No matter what the task, this group performs like rock stars!

Nearly five years ago, Joshua traded running his own roofing company for an opportunity with TransAm. Josh has been clocking in at 5pm and out at 5am, working the 7on/7off schedule. He loves the flexibility this allows for time with his family or reeling in a fish at Shawnee Mission Lake.

Josh had only one unexpected adjustment to make.

“The problem was, I still ate like I was roofing every day.” Josh admits he gained a lot of weight in the beginning but quickly took control of his health. Now, he packs a healthy dinner, takes long walks during his breaks and hits the gym, even if it is just for 30 minutes, before heading home. It has paid off and he is back to a healthy weight.

I watched as Joshua masterfully juggled between AS400 screens, deciphered driver messages, typed emails and answered the phone. His calm manner of speaking, gentle smile and genuine respect for drivers is felt unmistakably over the phone.

“Looks like they receive until 1300. Keep us posted. Call if you need anything.”

Josh takes pride in his team. In fact, I could sense the entire group supported one another, listened, cooperated and empowered themselves and the drivers they served. This team made sure our drivers received a consistent message of competence and concern, exactly representing TransAm’s Noble Purpose core values.

Thank you, Joshua, and all those involved as Night Dispatch! You rock!
