Sam Fixico, a TransAm company driver, is breaking truck driver stereotypes left and right. Sam is a Millennial trucker with a million miles under his tires. He joined the TransAm Trucking team in 2008, right after finishing truck driving school. “My mom is a truck driver,” Sam said when asked how he got started in the industry. “She drove for 18 years.” Sam plans to be a career driver just like her. During his Million Mile Jacket Ceremony, Sam told the room of dispatchers and planners, “I hope to get another million miles out of you.” With his drive to succeed, he probably will.
Sam’s advice to new drivers echoes that from other seasoned truckers. “Stay productive, stay safe, and communicate with your Driver Manager.” He also emphasizes the importance of keeping in touch with family. “Family helps keep you going when you’re over the road.” Being a truck driver means spending several hours by yourself as you haul loads across the States. Being able to talk to friends and family can help drivers feel less isolated.
Trucking is a noble profession and we appreciate drivers like Sam Fixico who decide to make a career in the industry. “He’s an incredible guy,” said Rocky, Sam‘s Driver Manager, “he’s a great guy to work with.” The Planning department also extended their thanks to Sam saying, “Oh yeah. He’s awesome!” Thank you, Sam, for choosing to drive with TransAm Trucking. We are honored to have you as part of our fleet and we look forward to the next million miles.
