The Story of Jeff “Bubbles” Henderson – A Partnership Built Over Decades

When people talk about the history of TransAm Trucking, they often think about the trucks, the growth, and the milestones that have shaped the company over the years. But some of the most important stories belong to the people who have been there along the way.

One of those people is Jeff “Bubbles” Henderson.

Long before TransAm became the nationwide carrier it is today, Bubbles was building a business of his own. In 1988, he launched his mobile detailing business just outside the caves in Kansas City, Missouri. What started as trailer cleaning services for several local trucking companies soon evolved into something much bigger.

Before long, Bubbles found himself partnering with TransAm full-time.

Today, he holds a distinction that few people can claim—he has been working alongside TransAm longer than any current driver or employee.

Over the years, Henderson has witnessed firsthand the transformation of TransAm. He watched as the fleet expanded, the company’s footprint stretched across the country, and the operation grew into one of the most recognizable names in refrigerated transportation.

His relationship with TransAm leadership goes back decades, including a long-standing friendship with owners – Johnny and Trudy Jacobson. But while the trucks, facilities, and business have grown, the reason Henderson has stayed connected to TransAm has remained remarkably simple: the culture.

Even in the early 1990s, Henderson knew TransAm was different.

“There was just something special about it,” he recalls. “It wasn’t like other trucking companies.”

Like any business that has been around for decades, TransAm has experienced both high points and challenges. Through it all, Henderson remained a trusted partner, adapting and growing his own business alongside the company.

What began with cleaning trailers expanded into a wide range of services, including truck detailing, cab cleaning, and countless other projects that help keep TransAm equipment looking its best.

While the work itself has evolved, one thing has remained constant: the people.

Over the past several years, Henderson says he has noticed a renewed energy throughout the organization.

“It’s enjoyable to see people smiling, laughing, and working together toward the same goal of being the best trucking company,” he says.

That sense of teamwork and positivity is one of the reasons he continues to enjoy coming to work every day.

Another reason is the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life.

His favorite part of the job isn’t necessarily the trucks—it’s the conversations.

“Everyone has a story,” Henderson says. “Sometimes you only get a brief synopsis of their story as they pass through, but that’s what makes this job interesting.”

Of course, many people know him better by his nickname than his actual name.

The name “Bubbles” was given to Jeff by one of TransAm’s very first shop managers, and like many great nicknames, it stuck. Over the years, it became more than just a name—it became a reflection of who he is. Over time, however, the name became fitting for more than one reason.

While it may bring to mind trailer washes and detailing services, it also perfectly describes his personality.

Anyone who has spent even a few minutes around Bubbles knows he is one of the most outgoing, approachable people you’ll ever meet. Whether you’re a driver stopping by for a wash, a new employee, or a longtime partner, he’s always ready with a smile, a story, or a conversation.

His positive attitude and genuine interest in people have made him a familiar face around TransAm for decades.

For more than 35 years, Jeff “Bubbles” Henderson has been more than a vendor. He has been a partner, a friend, and a constant presence throughout the company’s journey.

As TransAm continues to grow and write its next chapter, we’re grateful to have people like Jeff “Bubbles” Henderson who have helped shape the culture and history that make this company special.

Thank you, Bubbles, for your partnership, your friendship, and the countless ways you’ve contributed to TransAm over the years.
